Promoting Christian Mutual Funds for Over 20 Years
Christian Investment Services (CIS) Wealth Management Group and Christian Investment Advisors were one of the first advisory firms in the United States to promote Christian mutual funds all the way back in 1994, over 20 years ago (other terms for Christian mutual funds include Morally Responsible or Biblically Responsible). Bob Barber, the founder of Christian Financial Advisors® and Christian Investment Advisors, still remembers when Christian mutual funds were such a new phenomenon in the investment world and the mass confusion that took place between Socially Responsible Investing and Morally Responsible Investing.
Now, 20 years later, Socially Responsible Investing vs. investing in Christian mutual funds could be considered as different as liberal vs. conservative values.
Mainstream and Multiple Options When It Comes to Modern Christian Mutual Funds
Christian mutual funds have now become mainstream and Christian Financial Advisors® and Christian Investment Advisors offer many choices for those wanting their investments to line up with their conservative values. In the beginning (20 years ago), one of the only choices when it came to Christian mutual funds was the Timothy Plan Small Cap Value Fund. Today, The Timothy Plan has 13 different Christian mutual funds, and there are multiple, similar companies providing the same morally responsible investments from which to choose.
Below you will find a list and short summary of the Christian mutual fund choices we have access to at Christian Financial Advisors® and Christian Investment Advisors that allows us to give our clients a complete selection that works with their specific needs, wants, and ethics.
Each fund listed claims to be Biblically Responsible, but this is based on differing screening criteria. By listing these funds on our website, we are not endorsing all of them. This page is simply informational about mutual funds that claim to be Biblically Responsible based on their individual definitions. In a similar manner that the Bible is interpreted in different ways, we have found Biblically Responsible is also interpreted differently. Some screening processes are much more in depth than others. Some of these fund companies will not invest in businesses if they are publicly perceived to profit from immoral agendas. Other funds will not invest in companies that profit from immoral agendas even if it is not publicly known. Other mutual funds families add additional screens to also include finding if a business profits from and contributes to immoral agendas.
