Isaiah 9:6-7

For to us a child is born,
to us a son is given,
and the government will be on his shoulders.
And he will be called
Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God,
Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
Of the greatness of his government and peace
there will be no end.

The Christmas Season

By Rene' Broughton
Rene Broughton

This is a Christmas message found in our archives written by our past office manager, Rene Broughton. Rene’ was with Christian Financial Advisors® many years before going home to be with the Lord on November 26, 2014 after a long battle with cancer. We thought it would bless you as it blessed us.

The Christmas season is one that most people would say brings joy, happiness, good food, lots of giving and receiving and most importantly, celebrating the birth of our Lord and Savior. However, this season can also bring other experiences. Those who have recently lost loved ones might experience sorrow. Those who are hurting financially might experience depression and added stress. Those who are separated from loved ones due to war, divorce, job or other situations might experience loneliness. Many feel burdened by excess busyness, AND, those who do not know Jesus as their Lord and Savior might experience all of the above plus more.

Several years ago, my husband and I felt we needed to share what God had blessed us with. God showed us a family who was struggling. The father had lost his job and they had several children who would go without food and gifts. Needless to say, there was stress, and depression going on instead of joy and celebration. We felt very humble that God would give us an opportunity to share what we had with someone who was without. He specifically chose us to help that family.

Since then every year, we pray for someone who needs to see and feel the love and provision of Jesus at Christmas. We choose to give our time and resources to that one family and let them know they are special to the Lord and to us. What we have found is by focusing on sharing with those in need, we take our focus off of ourselves and what we have or don’t have. It leaves us with a quiet heart and a thankful spirit.

Why don’t you ask God if there is someone specifically that He wants you to focus on this Christmas. Maybe a family or an individual who is struggling. Maybe there is a specific ministry that desperately needs your time or funds. I guarantee that you will be glad you did!

Kristy and Cody Jones
Jenna Peters
Athena

Our receptionist Kristy Jones had the exciting opportunity to take a ministry position with her church this month. She has felt a calling to full time ministry for a while, so while we will miss her smiling face we are excited for her to follow God’s call. Bob Barber’s daughter Jenna Peters, will be stepping in as our receptionist. Jenna is joined by her chocolate lab, Athena on many days at the office. You may see them both the next time you come in!

Farewell Message From Kristy

Farewell to all the amazing people at CIS! This December I will be starting a new job with my church, Tree of Life. I am incredibly excited to start this new adventure that God has opened the door for, but I will miss all of the wonderful people of Christian Financial Advisors®! Over the last two years I have met some wonderful people and made lasting friendships. CIS is home to an amazing staff and the best clients around. I am thankful to have had the opportunity to work alongside you all.

Blessings,
